OVER A DOZEN TRIPS AND NO SLOWING DOWN- ARUBA

This blog isn't about traveling during Covid-19 and I followed all guidelines and precautions during my travels. It covers both DEC 2020 & March 2021

The "REN" or Ocean Suites as its referred to is a place that we call home on just about every visit

FLAMINGO iSLAND - RENAISSANCE Private island

I found this seat on the December trip and it has become "my spot" on all subsequent visits to the island

While not native to Aruba, the Flamingos are a huge draw to the private island

We did the day trip that included snorkeling, rope swing, lunch and unlimited drinks

When you are downtown and looking for a spot on the water for some food, drink and a view, stop into Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant.

If you are staying around the DIVI LINKS area or heading to or from town, you need to go around the other side of the hospital to a hidden gem called ODB tacos.

If you find yourself strolling palm beach around noon and looking for a respite from the ever present wonderful sunshine, take the stairs up to NOS CLUBHUIS, above Hadicurari.

The best activity on ONE HAPPY ISLAND, is to grab a seat and watch the boats and people go by.

The best free show every evening would have to be the sunsets, the orange glow never gets old.

For those who have spent their share of time in the " crying room" at the airport, a new option is now available and was a great distraction until boarding time, OLD DUTCH BAR

While its a yearly trip, It's never the same island while maintaining its core of escapism from inland life

the nightly glow from the grey lady

Looking for a great time mid island anytime starting at 1200 noon, look no further than CISCO BREWERS.

Look for this sign near the visitor center and then off you go to an experience that is way beyond just a brewery.

The best part of everyday is the part spent at the beach, just watching the "world" go by.

Its always hard to leave but if I don't, I cant come back.

We stumbled upon an 80 degree saturday on cinco de Mayo

One of the best spots for an ocean view and great drinks can be found at the Surf Point 360 bar

Its a great seaside town where you can dine inside or bring your own to the beach

In addition to the food and the laid back people, don't forget to take in the beauty of the ocean

There is something to be said about a place that you come back to year after year and still get excited like a kid at christmas. To wake up to incoming cruise ships and wind down with amazing sunsets , is my slice of heaven.

If you plan ahead and have a few friends you would like to spend the day with, why not in a private cabana?

Even if you cant get a cabana you can still grab a lounge chair and hang with your friends.

One of the first stops after getting to the island is Brant point. Its a place of solace where you can watch the world sail by.

A must stop for lunch is Madaket Millies

For such a small island, it has plenty of spots to disappear.

No trip to the island is complete without a free shuttle ride to Cisco Brewers

Boating life can be seen everywhere you turn on the Grey Lady

When you need some relief from walking around in such calming bliss, stop into the Gazebo.

Beach life is a Great life!!!

There are so many things than can be done on the island but sometimes its nice to just hang with old friends at the beach

"Just another day at the beach", might be an overused statement but just scratches the surface of island life.

It is very important to stay hydrated while on vacation.

One of the best parts of everyday, is the end. The sunsets reaffirm the beauty in life.

WHEN THE WEEKEND SCREAMS "KEY WEST"

While the reservations were for Key West, don't forget to stop along the way, as "The Keys" are so much more than Key west. That said, the entire 15O plus mile trek from miami is the full experience.

First stop was LOR.E.LEI cabana bar and Restaurant. It is tucked off the highhway behind a little trailer park and jets out over the water. It's a great spot to grab a drink, watch the fish, pelicans, boaters and paddle boarders go by.

Back on the road and further down we headed on the quest to the Southern most point. There are dozens if not hundreds of keys and little islands along the way. The water was so clear from the bridges, we saw dolphins jumping in the distance.

Welcome to key west

Its a very eclectic laid back place like the sunday morning commercials are always touting every winter on Northeast Television.

There are endless opportunities for good food, beverages and people watching at every turn.

The one thing not to miss while in Key West is the beauty of the sunset and the spectacle that is at Mallory square. Ironically we found the best spot to watch the sunset was from the Sunset Bar at the the Margaritaville resort and marina on Mallory square.

The holidays can be a fun time with friends and families but sometimes its nice to disappear for a few days in the midst of the hectic season. Thats what we did a few days after thanksgiving and found ourselves on the beach in Punta Cana, DR.

Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana is a great place to disconnect while enjoying the amazing sunsets.

Its very important to stay hydrated when in a foreign land with a humid climate, so we took advantage of all the options before us. They had many restaurants and bars at the resort and we made sure to try as many as we could.

For those who don't want to lose the holiday spirit while vacationing in the Caribbean, the resort had plenty of holiday decor to enjoy while wandering barefoot.
